I just started doing legit research on climate change and I must say I am equally concerned as I am fascinated with this stuff. How is this not being looked at as one of the greatest challenges of our time. Its also amazing how climate change has become a partisan issue in this country. Do people not realize the severe implications of what will happen if we do not reduce or completely halt co2 emissions.
Besides the fact that climate change causes more severe weather, droughts, wild fires etc. there is also thr human component as well. What will be the geopolitical ramifications if a billion people are suffering from food shortages? Or a billion people are displaced from their homelands due to rising sea levels, extreme heat, and droughts. Think of the chaos that would ensue as a result on a global scale. If we think the immigration crises is bad now it will 10x times as worse when these events come to past.

This is something you need to ask Republicans and Trumpset. :francis:

I used to try to warn heads how bad this is going to get and my threads went triple wood (and nobody in real life is really trying to hear it either), so at this point it feels like getting people to care about climate change is a lost cause.

I would not be surprised if one day our future descendants regard the Republican party and Donald Trump with comitting crimes against humanity. And I mean thay quite literally. Their fanatical partisanship and greed is putting the lives of every single living creature in jeopardy.
I was on the right on this issue myself until I stopped being lazy actually looked at the data.

Also to add to your point, as with most things people aren't going to care until its too late and there are severe food shortages, droughts, unbearable temperatures etc. You would think that the extreme weather would be enough but it isnt. And unfortunately most mass media doesn't even connect any of it with climate change. This is major disservice on their part.

Be happy Europe is still hot. When the oceanic conveyor shuts down, warm African curents will stop flowing north and Europe will be as cold as Canada.
