be honest thats not true tho. a lot of their best music was with him
He was in the right place at the right time. The Roots success coincided with the neo soul movement coming to prominence which was largely because of the Soulquarian collective. If you’ve got Questlove, Jill Scott, Eyrkah Badu, J Dilla, D’Angelo, & Common sitting in every studio session you are going to be great. They all worked on each others stuff pretty much at the same time.

The problem was everybody started experimenting too much around the time he just so happened to leave. Nothing Scott Storch did afterwards even remotely had the level of depth to it their music did.

depth? I mean look bro I like the roots too but scott post roots had way more sucess than roots post scott.

as far as discagraphy scott had a better one post them also if we just talking beats and music, I mean You got me and dont say nothing were the roots only hits of that era since 90s

Yeah he made some great club records. None of which get played anymore

The Roots had the biggest commercial success of their careers with Phrenology and Game Theory is probably the best album they’ve ever done

They’re better off without each other. All his hits were repetitive as fukk. The only post Roots member singles I can repeatedly listen to, that he contributed too, was “Still D.R.E” and the ones he helped produce on “Things Fall Apart” like “You Got Me”.

The roots are at their best when their music is free flowing and unpredictable. They also had better overall concepts and artistry after he was out. Scott’s at his best making repetitive worms.

Their best album is Illadelph Halflife.

And if it's not that, it's Do You Want More? or Things Fall Apart, like Quest always says.

The height of their commercial success was when Storch was still with them and worked on Things Fall Apart. They sold a million copies and won a Grammy, for that. They never got to that level again.

It won’t have the staying power either. 30 years from now people will still be able to pick up any Roots album and find something in it. Scott’s singles will probably be long forgotten.

Dude been doing this same “comeback” interview for years now

It’s like because the music ain’t hitting or making waves, he’s now just remaining stagnant in the past, telling the same old stories over and over again

It’s weird

For a dude that’s a talented pianist, he somehow hasn’t found a way to fit into this new era of music

I’m surprised he doesn’t just go the Jazz route and work with cats like Esperanza Spalding, Gretchen Parlato, Robert Glasler, Lalah Hathaway and Gregory Porter

Storch is/was mad mad talented, but I don’t think the comeback is gonna work, lol.

He should've started his own label and developed R&B artists and MC's under that, and just stayed in the background. He got hooked on the lights, and started getting gassed. Made mad millions. Blew all of his bread and crashed out. I just don’t think he has the business sense to really thrive in today's game.

I agree

Yeah at this point I don’t think it will either lol

Facts

Remember back in the day he was working with Jazzyfatnastees?

Yeah, the fame, the money and the drugs really consumed him and threw him off his game.

A few year years ago he was working with Steve Lobel, I don’t know if that’s still the case now or what
