Not sure who's the best ever, but Ben deff has a case

Him, Rodman, and Kevin Garnett are the only players in NBA history who can TRULY guard 1 to 5

Above the fray.
Jordan OPENLY campaigned for Pippen to get DPOY during the second three-peat era.

With as many First Team All Defense teams that Pippen made(8 consecutive), he should have broken through one year and gotten the crown.
The (full)year Jordan retired, the Bulls record was only 2 more losses.

These are the voting results the year he won. Since you know so much, who should have won?

Hakeem, easily.

Chicago and Houston had similarly ranked defenses, but Hakeem was the absolute center of Houston's defense and they were much worse with him off the court, whereas MJ was great but their effort was more balanced with Oakley, Grant, Corzine, and young Pippen all having a big impact defensively. MJ ended up winning in large part due to his gaudy steal/block numbers, but he gambled a ton and when Phil Jackson came in he critiqued MJ for that, saying he often gambled rather than playing sound defense. Hakeem actually had just as many steals+blocks as MJ did, plus he impacted a LOT more shots on the defensive end, impacted more players on the court, and made fewer mistakes.

Should won in 2000 with the blazers

Both their legacies change forever if they win
There's no change in Jordan's legacy with a Blazers ring. Pippen was over the hill and part of an ensemble cast, winning in 94 or even getting to the Finals is a different story.
