He could have tried, but he probably thought that it would fukk up his game and competitive edge.

Some athletes have to be like that. Barry Bonds was a notorious a$$hole who didn't befriend his teammates or open himself up. One time, his teammates asked him to cut it out and loosen up. So, he did. He smiled more, greeted his teammates, became less grouchy. And his play fell off. He was in a serious slump and the Giants were losing games, so his teammates told him to go back to the old Barry. He warned them if he did, they wouldn't like it, but they didn't care. They just wanted him to get his edge back. So, he went back and stayed like that.

Maybe Jordan went through the same thing. Everything he was made him the GOAT, even if people didn't like it, so what incentive did he have to change?
