Yea man those early days were pretty wild and violent. My cousin lived off of W 43rd and Dacoma off of 290 and I use to dub all my screws and give em to him (spent tons on blank Maxell grey tapes). He knew he couldn't come down to Park Place and Telephone Rd. to grab a tape. Its weird but like you said everybody could tell where you were from coming to the opposite side of town. The jackin was out of hand and so many boys were getting down right murdered for the OG swangers and slabs (I personally can't stand these new hideous ones from TWW). He made copies and gave them to his friends on the North. Screw would actually make personal tapes for you for $20-25 just give him a tracklisting and he would do it no problem. Had a few friends in school back in the day who he did it for. One of them (my patna Marcell ) was how I got to know him and got introduced when dropping off a list.

I got a aunt who worked at a clinic...were lil keke used get his dialysis done..n screw would take em sometimes..so she told me and my cousin trina..she was a huge screw head..trina had a binder full of tracklist she wanted to give him...she only got 3 done tho..and screw did it for free ...

n yeah it was crazy them nikkas knew who we were..i remember gettin into it with bird friendly ass went up there solo...he was like nah dont let this nikka get shyt...he tried to rob me last night..lucky i didnt have my shyt..

i told the nikka we gave a pass because u started crying..bub fell out laughin..n i was like u got ya shyt now..he go i stay strapped up...

i go i rob ass right now..n pulled the 40 out..next thing i know bird disappear n was behind the counter barkin talkin bad..got my 3 tapes n i left..

kappa 2 weeks later...everytime i ran into the nikka..he b-lined like he was hi-top from colors..runnin..wasnt even thinkin bout that nikka

That 5th spot was tough it was either Dat Boy Grace, Yungstar or Z-Ro.


I went with Grace though cause he was on more tapes and was going head up with Bun B in his prime and getting on Bun ass

Funny out of all the cats in the s.u.c ...only 4 em had passes to come back n forth nawf n south ..with no problems..will-lean..redd..c-not n pat lemmons..for obvious reasons..

n pat would leave with a suburban full of money...n was always on the other end of lucky..near the park..which pretty much a 1 way street/dead end..n he would come at night..

he could have easy got caught up..block off easter n lucky...he stuck..but never left with problems or nothing..n was always by himself

Man dont even get me started on the Kappa. I truly miss what the city use to be and how we celebrated it with pride. People would come from all over the country to hit Galveston that weekend. I remember parking next to a cat on the seawall (had to be 96 or 97) that had a pit attached to his truck asked where me and my click of friends were from. Told him the South side he said the North and didnt give a fukk and let us eat and drink for free. Man back then wasn't shyt open on the seawall and that BBQ would have the hungry ass chics flocking toward our area trying to roach but we getting numbers smashing chics in cars the whole time we out there. Met so many hoes from all over, California, Seattle, Atlanta, Jamaica and they was all down to fukk no problem. They didnt give a fukk what side of town you lived on. All you had to say is that you was from Houston and it was automatic.

Pokey is dope af and Pat was too(rest in paradise). I fukks with esg, keke, RO and trae the most. ESG is down with my homie, Mike Boogie.
Keke, Pokey, RO and Fat Pat are the freestyle kings to me.
Big moe was fire too(rest in paradise, Barr baby). Big hawk(rest in paradise) was a beast on the mic too. H town lost a lot of their real rappers, but they all paved the way for everyone.

I respect and have a lot of love for everyone in h town. They're all dope to me.
