Randy Orton may have legitimately been injured or he may have not been but either way he makes his return to defeat Damien Sandow in a veritable "battle of the briefcases." During the match, Cody Rhodes steals Sandow's blue case.
- Fandango interrupts a CM Punk promo and beats him down pretty bad. The two get booked for a match later in the evening.
- Mark Henry & The Usos show they can work well together as a team by defeating the Prime Time Players and Wade Barrett.
- Alberto Del Rio campaigns to Vickie Guerrero to get to pick his opponent atSummerSlam like John Cena did. This leads to Rob Van Dam interrupting to say he wants the shot, leading to their match later on, which Del Rio would win. Count RVD among the long list of potentials, one that could turn into a Fatal Four-Way with all the main event level names who have nothing to do at the show right now. Think Sheamus and Christian for the other two.
- AJ Lee and Big E. Langston promo running down Dolph Ziggler. This leads to an appearance from Ziggler, with Kaitlyn alongside him, and the babyfaces take out the heels.
- The Wyatt Family actually work a legitimate match, defeating Tons of Funk in a squash. Bray Wyatt spends the entire match sitting in his rocking chair looking on. After, of course, he cuts a promo on Kane.
- Christian def. Jack Swagger by DQ after Jason Thurgood Goode attacks Christian with a bullwhip and applies the c00n Trap. Swagger cuts a promo saying that Christian is a has been. An old relic that doesn't know when to give it up and keeping young guys from moving up just like in America with baby boomers forced to work into their 70s because Obama has created a system where all the money goes to the ghettos. After the promo Swagger and Goode beat down Christian with chairs and he is stretchered out.
- Fandango def. CM Punk after interference from Curtis Axel and Heyman.

Alberto Del Rio promo opens the show saying Vickie Guerrero would be allowing him to pick his opponent for SummerSlam just like John Cena. So he revealed ... RICARDO RODRIGUEZ! This was for kicks, of course, and Rodriguez wasn't actually in the building. Guerrero announced that there would be a triple threat later on in the evening: Christian vs. Rob Van Dam vs. Randy Orton with the winner becoming number one contender to the heavyweight title.
- Cody Rhodes def. Jack Swagger after Swagger says Rhodes isn't worth is time. After, Rhodes does an interview with Josh Matthews that apparently goes over like a lead balloon. Rhodes is attacked by Jason Thurgood Goode. When asked why he says that Cody's father was a disgrace to white people, he sounded like a sharecropper.
- Big E. Langston def. Sin Cara because of course Big E. Langston would defeat Sin Cara.
- Fandango def. CM Punk in what was described as a fine match that went 12 minutes long. Fandango won via submission.
- Pre-tape backstage with Christian, RVD, and Orton arguing. Orton being involved in the world title chase was explained by having him say he's not satisfied with just having the WWE title briefcase.
- AJ Lee def. Kaitlyn with the Black Widow thanks to help from Layla, who turned heel during the match and skipped away with AJ when it was over. This could be interesting.
- Christian def. Randy Orton and RVD to become the number one contender to the world title at SummerSlam. Orton hit an RKO on RVD but Christian rushed in to get a quick backslide pin on Orton right after. Jack Swagger and Jason Thurgood Goode attacked Christian after the match beating him down but RVD came to his rescue but was attacked by Cesaro. After RVD and Christian were left laying Orton comes over to help them up but instead they both receive RKOs.
