In any case, I did read his Rolling Stone article and the criticisms in the press afterward.
It seems to me that everyone is upset that Sean Penn secured this interview with Joaquin Guzman and not some other reporter.
People accused him of seeking this out for his own personal gain, which is such bullshyt. They accuse it of being distasteful because Chapo is a drug kingpin, as if reporters never interviewed murderers or dictators or other criminals.
If Lara Logan had gone to Mexico and found El Chapo, nobody would be talking shyt.
I read that Sean Penn laments that a discussion on the drug war and it's policies are not being discussed and therefore called his mission a failure.
That much seems to be true.
