You're*

Sean Price is better because of one thing. His songs jam harder. All the lyrical Miracle ass shyt you say Jay E has over him is bogus. He took Killah Priest and splashed some Nas on it then dressed it up in baduism weirdness.

Sean Price simply goes harder.

Not taking sides here Mel but don't you think you're being just a little unfair with your assessment of Jay Elec? That would be like me saying Sean took Redman (DIAD album specifically) splashed some Method Man on it (copying signature Tical suck-in-spit-inhalation 'til about '99 or so, shout out to Pras) then later dressed it up in new millennium NY crack rapper chic.

Personally wouldn't begin to compare the two. It's like back in '94 when nikkas used to be like, "Redman or Nas?" Always said nah won't choose because you gotta compare rappers from similar lanes or not at all.

Eh. Sean Price doesn't sound like Redman the way Elect sounds like Priest, though. Plus, when he was Ruck, he was kinda like a flow expert lyrical stylistic MC. He morphed into the gorilla presentation through age, drugs and weight gain.

So given that Jay literally resembles Priest vocally and has done a Nas tribute record one can safely say where he's come up with his style.

Not that I disagree that Sean often sounds the same on every song, give me this incredible verse Jay Electronica has spit that I must've missed amongst all his mono-syllable, abc-rhyme schemes he often uses?

Jay Elec's verses on Eternal Sunshine, Exhibit A, and Prayer for Michael Vick among others were all around phenomenal to me.

Some of his shyt can be whatever, but when he's on he has a ceiling that Sean just doesn't have. Jay can go off for 50, but he might also give you a light 15 point game. P is pretty much an 18 & 10 guy night in, night out. He consistently does what he does, he has his lane, but he ain't got much of a ceiling beyond that. I'm a huge P fan, he's in my personal top 10 currently, but I'm always more excited for his albums than I should be, because his albums are consistently uneven.

if i took the best of the 2, 80 minute disc, idk who'd have it off hands, prolly P. monkey bars has so many joints on it as does a lot of his solo shyt along the way

i feel you tho walt

jay el is still a bytch tho.dudes in here praising him for being a devilish/selfish individual but like him for his concious/righteous stance. just another concious bum who writes his raps and does nothing...

*waits for album stilll huffin n puffin

jay ell is the ultimate nigerian scamming :troll:

Don't get me wrong, P is that dude. And I have no idea what kind of shyt Elec is on, nor am I caught up in how deep and mysterious it is. I'll be the first one to admit I'm not even checking for dude at this point, the hyp has far exceeded the output.

I agree with Mel that he seems to have sipped his own kool-aid. In fact, the songs he has released since the industry got a hold of him have been my least favorite of his material.

I guess he sounds similar to Priest. The huge difference that everyone overlooks is that for a lot of people (like myself) there has never been anything but faint interest in Priest and there's serious interest in Jay Elec. Because he's better.

He sounds nothing like Nas to me though.

good sports analogy. I can see where you're coming from.

Jay Elec has a higher ceiling but Sean Price has a higher floor.

^^^that too. His career once having gotten on has mimicked the fraudulent movements of Nas as well. And he played himself with that Rza rant about the south. You gotta be smarter than that to think Rza was speaking anything but truth.

Baduism like a mufukka.

Point taken Big Mel. You're right, vocally Elec is to Killah Priest what Butterfly or Magoo is to Q-Tip.... I failed to acknowledge that.

However I still take issue with you charging Jay Elec based on a Nas influence. We never held the equally strong Rakim influence over Nas' head did we?

I'm not upset that he's Nas influenced. I like Jay Elect. Just not as much as P.
