For those who forgot the plot:
1. A republican radio host that most people don't like suggests that sideshow Bob should be released from prison after he calls into the show to comment on how "weak" mayor Quimby is as a leader.
2. Public pressure forces Quimby to pardon Bob
3. Bob meets with the Republicans of Springfield who are all the characters who make the most money. The Republicans and the radio host fund Bob's campaign. And in one of his political ads he literally calls the mayor that pardoned him soft on crime.
4. Bob wins the election after appealing to the old people and literal children of Springfield. The parents of the kids and the seniors give him an undeniable victory it seems.
5. Smithers snitches and gives the kids clues to figure out how Bob rigged the campaign.
6. Bob is arrested, pleads innocence but then when the kids appeal to his ego by suggesting he wasn't really in charge of the campaign and wouldn't be smart enough to rig it anyway. He gets furious and PRODUCES EVIDENCE that he did.
7. He's convicted and sent to a minimum security prison.
