The fact we have people in here denying monkeypox overwhelmingly impacts a certain segment of the population, so much so that they’re the only ones eligible to get the vaccine (the only caveat being if you’re a heterosexual who has slept with 14 people in the past month), is shameful

it spreads through human contact not just bussy activities
people who are more exposed to human contact are going to get it. so just like covid, people who are more in front facing customer service/retail work aka non-white people are going to be catching it at a higher rate too. not at an alarming rate most likely, but the fact that it's getting stigmatized as a gay disease is probably gonna stop straight people from getting it treated properly out of not wanting to look
and if any kid catches it people gonna claim the parent is molesting them and shyt. it's all gonna be a fukking mess.

I'm thinking about teachers getting it or giving it. My Gram is one and getting ready to start school soon(she refuses to retire, she loves those kids) but I don't want her dealing with that.
Yeeeea…I don’t know why people are being obtuse.is it ignorant to point out the facts about monkey pox? In the USA it is mostly impacting gay and bisexual Brehs. Article after article continue to point out the high percentage of gay/bi men getting in, versus the extremely small percentage of women and children. I’ve seen this poster in other monkey pox threads pointing out cases in Brazil and Africa and the 1 or 2 people in the USA who got it and aren’t gay. He seems invested in proving it’s not just gay men, so I did immediately suspect it’s because he’s gay or bi.
It’s spreading throughout Europe and the US because of “MSM” who are being reckless (i.e. having unprotected sex with multiple men). It’s not a gay disease but right now, it’s spreading rapidly in that community because of the acts they are engaging in without proper proper protection/barriers. It is what it is. They are being intimate and sharing bodily fluids with multiple people.
We aren’t talking about what’s happening in random African villages, etc. We’re talking about this thing spreading because men are engaging in weekend orgies, etc.
So if 1 person who happens to be gay/bi has it and is intimate with 3 other men, and those men go on to have unprotected encounters with multiple men…I mean, it’s just common sense. This mess is spreading like wildfire because of how easily it is spread when exposed to bodily fluids. It needs to be discussed so people are more careful. If you aren’t out here kissing everyone one, licking people, engaging in intimate acts without protection, etc you most likely aren’t going to get it as easily.
Imagine how much of this would’ve been curbed if people just…wore condoms and were more selective about who they were with

That’s a legitimate concern, too! And it will definitely happen if someone is working with really young kids because they haven’t really developed their boundaries. Little kids are still a little touchy/feely with each other lol So it can definitely pass around a classroom/school and affect teachers/admin.
