Point being that city politics arent nearly as leftist as you want them to be in your narrative. See O'Malley, Kasim Reed, Bloomberg, Rahm Emmanuel, etc.
Many cities being an effective one party state due to demographic loyalty leads to more right wing interests cozying up to the Democratic Party. Again look at the donor list for Emmanuel's reelection or Reed.
