all the time. sucks more when you travel a lot. I'll be in some random bar in the Philippines have a great conversation with someone the whole night, then say bye and realize you'll never see that person for the rest of your life. Sometimes you wonder, what city/country they're in now.
This is one good thing about facebook. I remember spending time with a couple of dutch chicks in brazil...kept tabs on them thru fb. and another dude I chilled with in Venezuela who I chilled with for 2 days off Margarita island. Had it not been for FB, it would be like the old days of just never seeing them or hearing from them again. I dont talk to any of them on fb, but every once in awhile I check in, see where they're at and say wassup.
Not everyone tho. sometimes it's just an hour of chatting at the bar, then bam over. It's crazy how you hear a story, get to know someone all night then you're both just like "well, have a good life"
Now that I live in china, I've almost become desensitized to relationships. Like where I live, most foreigners are just passing through on business trips. so for example I hooked up with this banging german chick over the summer, we got along, hooked up, I swear she could have been my girl, everything was just so right, then bam......she had to leave. I go thru this a lot...you just get used to it

Humans want to connect. Its part of the appeal of social networks, but one that I cannot get with mostly due to the fact that I CANNOT connect with them directly.
I post on here to see what others are thinking, but never really connected on that personal level because of the sheer number of people on here. I agree with Robin Dunbar's theory that you just simply cannot connect and maintain full healthy relationships with more than 50 people at the same time. I am a bit of an oddball when it comes to online social connectivity.
I analyze how people react and handle certain situations online and sometimes don't understand why some put themselves in a position of vulnerability especially when trying to establish a relationship. I should end this here.

I think you said it in your post.
People long to interact and some are naive to the more malevolent nature
of the internet, we've witnessed it on this board despite it being very young,
and we've seen it occur all across the internet, it's happening at this very moment most likely.
With anonymity we know people can exhibit disgusting malicious behavior even then I think the ability of the internet to bring like minded people together is pretty damn amazing and can outweigh the negatives.
It's mind boggling to think what would happen if we didn't have the internet.
The things I know now I'm certain I wouldn't know at all.
The individuals I interact with, the personalities I'm entertained by, the different ideas and views I'm put up against and sort of forced to make sense of.
The internet and or just the world in general can be a very exciting place......
I remember I ran into this chick I used to work with that I hadn't seen in like 5 years. She gave me her card and told me to hit her up. Never did.

The worst is when you see your perfect chick somewhere like a lounge or whereever; I mean gorgeous, she has everything you look for in a girl....and you watch her a bit to see if she has a cool ass personality or maybe you just see her for a fleeting second walking by you at the mall and you think of every reason in the world not to approach her nor do you summon the courage. Sober people problems. Whenever this happens I just pretend like "What would the drunk me do?" Then I go make conversation. Works everytime
But what about how so many people dont even exist, until you see them. Their story, their future, their present, nothing about them existed before you came in contact with them.
