Self Publishing Coming To Xbox One, Console Can Also Be Used As Dev Kit

Both of those games are being published by Microsoft, So technically those aren't indie games.
They are being created by indie developers. Just like last gen M$ has made it their business to scoop up the best indie games/devs regardless of their self publishing policies.
People are running around the Internet championing "self publishing" but in reality 99.9% of self published games are utter trash. If they weren't a publisher would have picked them up.

Microsoft is publishing those games because of there "previous" policy which would not allow self publishing.
That doesn't make it NOT an indie game anymore. But if you personally don't want to count it, this is a free country

Yes, they're made by independent studios. But, those games are being published by a MAJOR publisher in Microsoft. Just like games from "Bungie", "Insomniac Games" & formally "Bioware". Those developers are or were larger independent studios have/had major publishing deals. It's same situation, as those games you mentioned.
