IG has always been primarily used for selfies

spoken like a typical "late to the party" individual. years before IG lost its iPhone exclusivity it was filled with scenic shots and dope photography.
it was less of a social network and more of an app that encouraged amateur photography.

Gladly been off all forms of social media for nearly a year now. I haven't felt better, I realized all the stories I was seeing on my news feed where tailored to appeal to my emotions/desires and not logic/reasoning. Once I realized what was going and how everyone else is under the spell, I felt disgusted. Soon as I stopped my mood and productivity levels improved. I watch people stuck to their phone screens for hours, not realizing how much time has gone by.

It's definitely a cause of depression and the "woe is me" mindset. People are putting up a facade of how wonderful their life is and then some average Joe Schmos are sitting there like...

I aint shyt.

Then they start spewing their insecurities all over the internet.

A vicious cycle.

i follow a few of these wanna be model/rapper/singer/party promoter chicks on instagram

they post at LEAST 5 or 6 selfies a day...that doesn't account for the ones that don't make the cut

It depends on who you follow. If you follow fitness pages and fitness people, you're Explore tab will be filled with that type of stuff. Same with party promotors, thots, strippers, etc.

Follow nothing but food and dope photography pages and the "Red Light District" of Instagram will disappear for you.

Bolded and quoted for truth. I deleted my IG after I had it a few months, I got bored of it. People taking pics of food dishes they make or are eating, I'm like . Selfies really had me wondering, like for some of these shots who is following you around with a camera capturing while you eat, sleep, work out, and just do random things throughout the day?
