I know the first time i heard this phrase was when LL dropped his album GOAT in 2000 (which ironically was one of his worst releases), but was this word/phrase used widely before that?

The real question should be. Who gets credit for the phrase "Stan".:patrice:

I mean, yeah Eminem had the song "Stan", but Nas was the first to call someone "A Stan" which he got from the Em song. Em was talking about a character, but Nas was using it as a diss to dikk riders.:ohhh:

(Yes, im bored :mjcry: )

It's a playground hoops term far as I know (Earl "the GOAT" Manigault).. Sure it predates that as well if I had to guess
thanks, seems like it might've gotten thrown around in NY circles, but LL is still the one who made it an adjective/hip hop term

G Rap in 86 on Its A Demo

A professional performer, wheels of steel trainer
One hundred percent excellent entertainer
The maker and creator of the lyrical line
Idea of Shakespeare, the mind of Einstein
Surrender, pretender, you don't exist
As a vocalist, so you can kiss this
I'm Kool G Rap, greatest of all times
And you can see it, inside my rhymes
See it's a demo
