It created a society that glorified consumerism for the sake of impressing people.
Okay, I have to disagree with you though, the book isn’t about impressing people it’s about helping people.

What’s the best book you ever read before?
Do you have any recommendations?

Mindset by Carol Dweck is probably the best book I've read in terms of growth.

Quiet by Susan Cain
The Spook who sat by the door by Sam Greenlee
Man-Not Dr. Thomas Curry
Time Square Red Time Square blue By Sam Delaney.
Iron John by Robert Bly
Language, Thought and Reality by Ben Lee Worf.
Playing in the Dark By Toni Morrison.
Fall Of America- Elijah Muhammad
Anansi Boys- Neil Gaiman.
Neuromancer- William Gibson

I threw in a little bit of everything from the genres I like.

I gotta find more 21st century material. 95% of the books I own came out in my childhood or before I was born :snoop:

It was a joke!
Read this in college.
I'll check out the latter

It's the closest thing to an AA national epic, my edition's a little older so it spans a few decades in Africa before Jamestown, then it does an incredibly deep dive in the history of Black ppl in North America all the way to the mid-70s
