I'm sure he wasn't the first or last to do so but others have managed to keep their jobs and their teams weren't/haven't been as successful as the Magic were under Smith's stewardship. The Magic was still a championship contender back then.

The Celtics weren’t too interested in dealing a 1st and Rozier like Orlando wanted for Ibaka since they can use cap space in July. Celtics were not willing to include Rozier in a potential Ibaka trade per multiple sources.

This is true but it depends what the celtics would have to give up for ibaka. i wouldn't trade any of the nets picks if it's not for millsap, butler or pg13. if they don't land an all-star player this year then they can re-sign thomas and have one of the best prospects on a rookie contract.

they're in a really good position and it might be better for them to build their team to make a run in 3-5 years when the east will be more open. signing horford was dumb tho.
