This is a non trolling question. Many people who say they give their life to Christ and start a relationship with him and experience such peace and happiness. I don't doubt their sincerity, but all I can say is I got involved in Christianity and/or religion in 2001. I was 11 years old(26 now), So from 11-13 I tried to follow this faith and all I felt was unhappiness, fear and guilt. What's your guys explanation? Anyone else experience those feelings following a specific faith? Not bashing Christianity, just being honest, it never gave me what many of you say you have. Maybe it was just me I guess:francis: (Sidenote: I'm not saying I'm happy now. I wasnt happy trying to follow Christianity, and I'm not happy now. I guess I need to sit down and figure out why that truly is and fix it)

They don't really believe it.. You didn't really go into the equation expecting to feel overwhelmed with joy and happiness did you?

Yes :francis: But I guess my foundation was weak from the start. If I'm only doing something or following something out of fear, fear of going to hell specifically, then that's a problem. Fear is a big motivating factor in my life. I'll admit wanna get me to do something or back out of something bring fear or consequences into the equation and I'll most likely consent.

Fear and close minderness are essential for abrahamic religions brehs. No disrespect to Christians because they always get singled out

The thing about fear is that it is literally all in your head...To fear something is to be scared of something that doesn't even exist or hasn't even happened yet....fear really sucks because it actually prevents you from doing something that you need or want to do...I love cliche's because they can have deeper meanings....one of my favorites is Just Do It:ehh:

Well that's the thing in relation to religion. If it don't exist then great. If it do exist(hell) and Christianity is really the only way, then I'm fukked. And don't exist and I go into the ground like everyone else then I'm going either be really bitter and feel like " I did all this BS and got nothing to show for it" or....well I guess there is another scenario because I'll be dead and won't know I'm dead anyway

It does matter though. Your denomination plays a big factor in determining your religious theology. If your baptist background was the "fire and brimstone" type it could explain why you felt all that fear and guilt
All of Christianity teaches hell and brimstone for non believers. All of Christianity teaches Sexual repression which REALLY has fukked me up in my life and when I was younger. Like seriously why must I get married to have sex, what if marriage isn't for me? I'll answer that, it isn't . I don't want the responsibility raising a family. That shyt is stressful, I've seen it first hand with my father(even though I'm thankful he and my mom had me). I just wanna get laid and be stress free. I was responsible all through highschool and college. I want independence and good times, not stress and paying college tuition bills. But hey I guess that's sinful in the eyes of God smh.

That's why I think it's all about prayer, God talks to you and answers the questions that you ask...there are books that are non-religious that explore the theory of asking yourself really "deep" for lack of a better word, questions..."Ask and you shall receive" is a real thing...I think you should try meditation so you can clear your head
