With all this hate/talk about my (personal) favorite, Jay-Z, I just wanted to ask this question.

I have no problems with Nas, I own all of his discography and I am a fan of his music. On The-Coli.com though,
Jay-Z is met with intense hate and resentment in terms of his raps, career, business moves, and life.

Why can't one on The-Coli be a fan of both artists? Why do we have to choose (on here) between liking one or the other?

Why is the hate so strong, when Jay himself said that him and Nas are good?

I am asking a serious question and looking for a serious debate (I know stans on BOTH sides feel strongly)

But to YOU, what makes Nas the best? Why does he get half the hate on here that Jay does when honestly, deep down, he probably wouldn't mind being in the same space as Jay right now, hell most artists would.

I think Nas has a great catalog of music and is a great MC who I put in my Mt. Rushmore of MC's Biggie, Nas, Jay, Pac

so whats your take on Nasty Nasir?....

I feel you I think Jay-z hated on too hard on here though I was not a fan of his last two albums.

I think Nas is the greatest rapper alive. I only think Nas has two classic albums, but the sum of his work and the dopeness of his individual songs and collabos towers over most other rappers. Further, I think he has cemented his status based on consistency. He will never drop another true classic, but every album he has dropped has ranged from good to excellent. Nastradamus aside and even that had it's gems. Furthermore Nas has the greatest collection of B-Sides and Unreleased songs.

Either way Nas and Jay are the best of their era.

The top 5 rappers of all time all have a case and are all flawed in some way. Nas is just the most well rounded one. so thats why.. Nas only weakness is his "We want Primo fans" who wont let him live on the uptempo side now.. so thats his kryptonite

Good answers...keep it up...

Me and my boy were talking about this after hearing "BBC" on MCHG...He felt that BBC was tailored for Nas with his flow and delivery. He said, "why hasn't Nas made more "radio" songs in his career?"

Got the wheels turning in my head and I honestly thought about it for a minute...would we look at Nas the same way if he had more "radio-friendly" songs? Maybe part of his "mystique" is that he isn't all over the radio...

A Buckeye State Of Mind
Here my reasoning for NaS>>>camel

Esco got the goat album in Illmatic.
The most creative LP in IWW.
The most creative song in I gave you power.
The best verse debut to the masses on live at the BBQ.
The best guest appearence with verbal intercourse.
The best LP in the 90's,00's,and 10's Illmatic,Stillmatic,Life is Good.
Greatest diss song ever with ether. Won the biggest battle in history over jayz.
His non album cuts such as the lost tapes and other songs are better than most artist albums.
Plus we see him grow as a person from each album from the chip tooth kid in the qb PJ's to a father of two. Not only has he put his high points on wax but the lows as well. From failed relationships, divorce, losing friends to jail and death, passing of his mother, problems he had with his dad and brother, problems about his daughter, taxes, and so on. We cab all relate to many of those things. And no two NaS albums sound the same because of his growth as an artist and a person. Jayz on the other hand ,still talks about being a dealer and his economic status. Most can't relate to his expensive lifestyle. And that's not hating on his money,it's just the truth. And his fans here are worse. Not all, there are alot of good jigger stans but we all know who the handful of fukkboi's are:comeon: They think Jay is the goat cause he's fukking Beyonce and his bank account:stopitslime:
But if you ask most NaS stans, most of us got him in the top 5. So how much hate is really there:yeshrug:
The camel jokes is just that, jokes. Like I said in another thread,we respect and:piss: on each others favorite artist cause it's the coli way:pachaha: But when it's time to give due respect, both sides oblige.

Nothing..rlly..just a bunch of mufckaz who became fans of his in the new millenium because of their inner desire to be against what they believe Hov stood for..and they saw and continue to see Nas as the biggest representative of that image's antithesis.

Nas wouldnt even be on anybody's radar if not for the battle..and it just goes to show people scream that "Nas is the GOAT" due to that one event

Same with mufking 90's babies callin Pac their GOAT...not realizin only reason they do that is because they were there for the post events of his death(The shoving down of Pac being GOAT through numerous Hip Hop media outlets)

Most ppl that call Hov GOAT..are just focused on the music..not character, not if he's a good citizen, not if he's a devil worshipper...etc.

He makes hot songs and they fck with it..

Nas fans/Pac fans post 2001, are the most ingenuine rap fans in hip hop history
