The better lessons to take would be street fighting lessons because realistically, there are no refs in a street fight so if people jump in while you are trying to do some special MMA move, its a wrap.

If they have a place that trains security guards/bouncers then that would be the place to go.

Wrestling has been apart of African culture for millenums friend. Let's not show ignorance like we are experts that don't need to know history friend.

Ironically boxing was introduced to individuals of African descent in modern times by Europeans who made both wrestling and boxing popular during the gladiatorial days of the Roman Empire, friend And passed down these traditions into various cultures.

Anti wrestling in favor of striking came from traditions if prize fighting in London during the 1800s where grappling below the waist was not permitted. It established a rule of etiquette when fighting to be hands only.

Lets read and know stuff. :dj2:

That price is kinda steep

But as someone who used to box, let me be 100 and say that boxing really ain't shyt in a street fight. One you get scooped or matched up with someone that can take two clean punches, you gonna see how worthless that shyt is real quick. You need to know how to defend yourself from more than just hands while you're not happily standing and dancing how you please.

I'm at a Thai boxing/street fight place right now and its been great so far. If nothing else, its improved my defense immeasurably.

Relson Gracie will teach you jiu jitsu that will help you in the streets

krav maga has evolved to favor the strong and powerful

I plan to do boxing first, I just like the discipline and learn some fundamental technique while upping my reflexes.

Jiu Jitsu/Krav Maga is something I would do later, I like the techniques of using leverage against an opponent so its really good for creating space. Where boxing is more about being good with angles.

i'd do the opposite, learn some practical defense and then incorporate strikes into your attacks as you sharpen your technique

but there are others in here who know a lot more than i do, maybe they'd disagree

naw i completely agree

boxing is a sport, this other mma shyt is stuff you can bank on when you're outmatched, in a corner, or on your back. reflexes? checking kicks will have you on your toes for life after one week of bruises. all my boxing is good for is a small part of my offense. but trust and believe a clinch game is more vicious than the cleanest uppercut you can throw.

met this dude and he's an MMA fighter with his own gym

he offers boot camps and he also trains ppl to box, kickbox and jiu jitsu

I'm seriously considering doing the boot camp

dude charges $450 for 3 months

is that a good price?

and if I take this class, will I be able to put @Mowgli/mrsomebody to sleep? :lupe:

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
its 2015 im not wrestling with no one yall better wise up and get some real protection invest in going to the gun range that mma sh!t for overly aggressive whiteboys who think they tough rolling around with men with no clothes on gay no matter how u call it
and what do you do when you get locked up for shooting a nikka in a fist fight (no reasonable risk to life)

or in a bar/club/lounge fight where you can't bring your gun in?

i got my carry permit... i can carry most places in like 20 states... but there's still shytload of situations, where you won't have it, or can't start blindly bucking nikkas for swinging a punch
