Seriously, how did Melo age so badly?

I actually thought he'd find a great niche for himself as the 3rd option in his twilight years a while back instead he's actually a complete liability out there on both ends.

I know he had a lethal first step in his prime & was one of the quickest leapers in the League but his game was never actually based on athleticism like say Wade. I thought he'd still be a knockdown shooter & would feast on mismatches in the post.

He cost OKC against Boston the other bricking 2 freethrows in the clutch & just had one of the WOAT 4th stretches I've seen in a while. They genuinely look better with Jerami Grant right now.


These were his last 2 plays but he was actually worse than this short video.

shooting depends on legs more than some people would like to let on (not pointing to melo, but rather bball fans)

Melo doesnt get any bounce on his J whatsoever. I know how hard it is to consistently shoot like that cause Ion put no jump into my Js unless I make a point of it. and it isnt like melo works on his arms at all so

edit: @OP Ive seen more and more OKC fans since their cold stretch started clamoring for Grant to start. IDK why he hasnt just been given full time starter status at this point

Watch footage of him his first three years in NY, and then watch any of him the last four.

Knee issues don't magically go away because you switch teams, dude can't generate any lift underneath the basket anymore. The first step is gone. He's a shell of the player he used to be.
