yes because that was the CULTURAL practice of the Middle East, not the religious one. In fact in the Quran, freeing slaves is stated as one of the best things you can do to make it to heaven. Those of us whose ancestors were from West and Central Africa were Muslim before they were Christian.

But yes, they did have their own indigenous religion.

Part of me wish they would have stuck to it. An article came out earlier this year where Kim Jong-un said until Africans start practicing their own culture they will never develop.
