Sessions had very clear views on these issues and it's not a surprise that he is reversing previous DOJ efforts. This is the problem of having a President without a clearly defined worldview, doctrine or whatever, it is easier for his appointees to have more leeway to implement whatever their policy preferences are. When you have President's that have more developed worldviews their subordinates work within a particular structure even when they may have different views. Once you get beyond immigration and business regulations there are very few things Trump has solid viewpoints on. Sessions is like that old school Republican that believes inner cities need to be reigned in and that recognizing cause and effect distracts from the retributive element of law enforcement. It is ironic that Republicans rage on every other public sector profession with the exception of the police and maybe fireman. They will go on and on about how unions are bad because they believe unions always protect their members at the exception of the people they serve but never apply that logic to the police whom they believe to be victimized because people demand accountability from them.
Can confirm, as a white person, it's a mostly white problem, with big pharm and heroin, but I am sure it will still be minorities that will be serving the majority of sentences. Fukking dispicable, clear cut, racism in the wide open. We need to keep applying pressure to these fakkits in the administration, until it breaks.
