UK breh here

I have a mate who thinks that you lot love our accent and that UK rappers will make moves in the USA

I've been on hip hop forums long enough to know that our accents sound like some tea n crumpet shyt to u, no matter how grimy they sound to us.

He also thinks 'real rap' is coming back

Can I have your opinions on this

i do believe UK rappers will make moves here they just havent promoted the right one

in the last few years hollywood has been taken over by UK actors.

also are cities are copying your open style and bicycle riding.

our economy is tanking, we have a reality tv star racist as president, racial tension is at all time high, private prisons are out of control,

so yes real rap is coming back

20 years ago i wouldve agreed with you about annoying UK accents and real rap falling off but times have changed

Every time I hear a UK cat rapping, it sounds like a re-run of The Benny Hill show mixed with slang from A Clockwork Orange.

That accent makes it REAL difficult to understand what's being said off top, then, to make things worse, they speed it up.

I have the same issue with some Southern rappers and most Jamaican artists.

Beats are dope, but if I can't understand the lyrics, I have to pass.

Nah. We didn't take to them because hey were putting on American accents in their rhymes.
Yeah I've heard them say that. I mean I guess they switched it up to a degree but to my American ears they still sounded very British. American flows with a british accent is what made them unique

I guess ya'll saw it differently :yeshrug:

I definitely think attitudes have mellowed towards our accents and truly our music scene over here is fire ATM and has been for a few years

But idk how anyone can think 'real rap' will come back, shyts moved on and trying to emulate golden era is a mistake anyway
