WWE has released announce Alex Reyes, real name Alex Del Barrio, according to PWInsider.com.

Reyes was a former announcer at Booker T’s Reality of Wrestling promotion, and was hired by WWE back in October of last year. Reyes appeared as an announcer on NXT programming, host at non-televised NXT live events, and assisted development talent in their promos at the WWE Performance Center.

Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting former NXT announcer Alex Reyes (Alex Del Barrio), who was released earlier today, believes his love for wrestling is part of the reason he was let go.

Pro Wrestling Sheet says sources close to Reyes said he was under the impression having a great passion for wrestling was part of the reason he, Rich Brennan and Kyle Edwards (Arda Ocal) were all recently let go from their WWE contracts. According to these sources, there weren’t any specific examples to give Reyes a reason why his role was reduced, but it was noted that WWE tends to frown on hiring ‘die-hard’ wrestling fans.

Alex Reyes began working for WWE in November 2015 and served as both a backstage interviewer and live event host.

WWE has to be one of the most miserable places to work at if you're not in good with somebody. How is being a fan seen as a negative :martin:
I dunno, I get it. If I was running a wrestling company, I wouldn't want to be playing random Wredditors or die hards, either. Mark ass marks are gonna mark no matter if they work for the fukking company. I wouldn't want to be paying die hards that are marking out all the time and always wondering why you aren't pushing *insert indie guy here*.

Would you really want to hire random people from here or Wreddit? I sure wouldn't.

That's not the point. They're a wrestling company yet they despise the word. The die-hards are the the ones keeping them alive because they sure as fukk ain't getting casuals tuning in every Monday. Those guys weren't even in creative, they were backstage interviewers and announcers. Remember Mike Adamle? How well did that go hiring a guy who knew nothing about the business? Mauro doesn't count because he's always been more of a wrestling type of play by play guy.
