Mad I can't play an inferior version of a game I can play? Ok :mjpls:
SF5 is garbage. SF4 is probably the greatest street fighter ever made.
This is what I hear more often than not
I been saying this, SF5 is ass, and the guys here on the Coli will defend it.

I didn't even bother buying the shyt lol
So you're saying sf5 only has buzz because it was an answer to killer instinct :ohhh:

its so typical of people to go for Street Fighter 3

then (insert most recent SF game)

SF3 isn't even all that great. the parrying is what the made the game somewhat better, but it wasn't until '04. you know, the Daigo vs J Wong parry-super- finish match when the game REEALLLYY became overrated.

Street Fighter V is just....no. I mean if this is your opinion then my bad, but nah. there really isn't a "best" SF game when you really look at it.

Street Fighter 2 is the best. The version that allowed air fireballs :handshake:

I Like Street Fighter Alpha 3

SF3 3rd Strike

SF4 (Super,AE, Ultra)

and ive only played SF2 once but.... I cannot pick a "best" SF ever made. its just not possible, whatever people say is just opinions.

my true favorite is Street Fighter EX (which isn't even a real SF series) lol.

I played SFV on gameshare with a friend and bodied him 5-1, my first time playing SF5 too...maybe its just me because I'm used to playing SF so I what I do pretty much works in every game or the game really is just that easy :yeshrug:

This is actually incorrect. SFV has been horribly received by the tourney community. Registration for EVO dropped by half between 2016 and 2017. EVO 2017 - Street Fighter V Registration Numbers Show A Sharp Decline - Nerd Bacon Reviews

I honestly don't dislike SFV, but SFIV felt a lot a better to me. Focus Arts was an awesome mechanic. Sad Capcom dropped all support for it.
sf4's highest entrants ever was like 2200. Sfv hit 2600 this year, and will probably hit 3000 next year if ssfv is a thing.

Popularity does not mean a game is good. SF5 has higher crowd due to its ease to grasp and shallowness.

Street fighter 4 was a game loved by many, I was surprised at how much love it got. Street fighter 5 I've hardly heard anyone talk about it after it launched.

I know there is a thread, there is a tourney, so the fukk what. That has nothing to do with the overall popularity of the franchise.
Sohh... Is SF5 as popular as SF4 was?
How much better or worse is it in your opinion?

Inquiring minds wanna know...

1. The SFV launch was fuggin AWFUL.
2. SFIV's learning curve was higher. 1-frame links, plinking, FADC. SFIV had loads of technique that took a long time to master.
3. Input Lag in SFV remains some of the largest in all of fighting games. Basically the time from pressing the button to seeing it on screen has a longer delay than most other fighting games. That shyt can RUIN execution.
4. Season Passes are wack.
5. Capcom has put LOADS of money behind SFV and the esports aspect of it. The game (allegedly) was made for the pro and pro-am scene FIRST casuals second. The actual way the game PLAYS, however, contradicts this sentiment as its the most accessible SF game basically ever.

I like third strike when I first played in in 1999 at the local arcade. It was the last arcade game in my area that got a lot of play besides MVC2. You can even see my Sohh.com posts back in 2000 hyping up the game.

SF3;3S just feels better to me, and I really like the music, the sounds and the presentation. It was a unique game.

SF4 and SF5, look really goofy to me, and I don't like the Eurotrance music and goofy sounds and the goofy voices. I know that zoning is a legit pro-level tactic, but I hate that shyt, and it made SF4 nearly unbearable for me. I won't even play SSF2T because zoning is the best strategy in the game.

Eh those numbers are just returning to the average. We've seen tourney entrants spike before, and then return to their normal numbers. Look at EVO's SF numbers over the years, and 2017's numbers are par for the course, whereas 2016's was a once in a lifetime spike(likely due to it being a new game). Smash 4 saw over 2.5k entrants last year and this year only 1.5k. Melee spiked last year and had 2.3k and then dropped to 1.4k.

If you study the last few years, there's been growth in SF entrants, but we can't hold 2016 as the bar when it was clear that there was a spike in numbers across the board, which was likely due to new game hype and crossover entrants.

Can't use popularity metrics/EVO attendance entrants to gauge the quality of a game, Capcom put their money on SF5, you gonna bet that people are going to compete for some of it. As for SF4 vs SF5, I'm going to go with SF4.
