Sean was a very powerful character.
Capcom took risks in SF3 with an all new cast and a Top tier black shoto character that wasn't some crazy black stereotype. they were rewarded with poor sales and overall fan dissatisfaction.
Then they turn Sean into a joke character and take away all of his buffs in Third Strike. then make Ken the top tier character...and all of a sudden SF3 was considered a classic.
