no issue other than the fact they were "sparring" partners when they use to pass the mic together on the the STEREOMARRS SOUNDSYSTEM (crew) which use to clash other sounds in jamaica....

when you hear the track "RING DI ALARM" that was a track that was originally "freestyled" live whe Tenor Saw one of thier singers was signaling the call to alert the crowd that they had just "murdered" another soundsystem...:violent:

They were FULL OF TALENT....Stereomarrs at one time had (SUPERCAT, YAMI BOLO, TENOR SAW, NICODEMUS, JUNIOR DEMUS, UGLYMAN aka NINJAMAN, BURRO BATON, CUTTY RANKS, NITTY GRITTY and record selector DANNY DREAD) all on the same roster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i know i am being BIASED for stating that ...because i grew up a fan of thier sound...but real talk i challenge anyone to find a more TALENTED STABLE OF DANCEHALL ARTISTS :youngsabo:

What brought about the clash between NINJA and CAT was basically the promoters feeding into the fans desire to have the two BAD BOYS at the time battled it out on stage......

Also the fact that SUPERCAT had just signed a big contract for COLUMBIA RECORDS and was seen as another commercial mainstream artist..that hometown favorite NINJA needed to murk out......

So it was strictly a musical war...nothing personal.....even though Ninja and CAT both threw darts at alleging each other's drug usuage....

"Cat talk bout mi pon coke...the first man to ever introduce me to Coke was SUPERCAT"! :laff:

although Cat did comment in an interview followign the clash that he felt the clash was sabotoged to "mek him lose" because he was no longer residing in Jamaica and he had gotten accepted by the AMERICAN MARKET...

but the counteraction to that argument is that SUPERCAT came in with a negative predisposition, because the previous year NINJA "murdered" SHABBA......and that SUPERCAT felt that even if he did WIN....that he wouldn't make it ALIVE out of jamaica...which explains him bringing the GUN ON STAGE which had fallen out of his pocket on to the stage......:violent:

To which Cat justifies as being NECCESARY considerign he had just beat the MURDER CHARGES against him in NYC regarding him defending himself during the shooting of NITTY GRITTY just months prior..

and was unsure if thier were still hostile elements bitter over his death...

all his life since his days sitting in the GENERAL PENITENTARY "death" has loomed over CAT's head......NINJA was just an animated character who made bad choices in regards to his street life which unfortunatly crosses over into his career.

either way....CAT and NINJA remain two of the best clash artists to ever grace the STING STAGE

this was a good read.

didnt supercat have a bounty on his head at one time?

damn thats messed up

nah actually it was a BLESSING .... if you think about it in terms of all the bullshyt cat avoided by not performing and residing in Jamaica...

:manny:

Just months before Cat had signed that deal with Columbia Records...his "boss" Skeng Don had already moved the Stereomars soundsystem to Miami along with the Skeng Don record label which had helped create Supercat's Buzz since 1986 when he released the international hit "THE BOOPS" which was later sampled by KRS ONE for his classic "THE BRIDGE IS OVER" cut....

While Skeng was in Miami...Cat was in constant demand in New York where he signed his deal.....one of the reasons was that a soundsystem in brooklyn named ADDIES was just starting out with it's operation being backed by a good friend of SKENG DON and the PNP political party they were associated with.... :dj2:

So Cat left Stereomarrs out of a favor to the Brooklyn crew and brought along his ole' pals NICODEMUS and JR. DEMUS and the newest member of the STEREOMARRS/ADDIES family LOUIE RANKING aka "OX" of the movie BELLY......and this is what basically turned ADDIES into "KING ADDIES" upon being crowned by racking so many victories by MURDING BUMBAHOLE SOUNDSYSTEMS ALL OVER THE GLOBE :bustback:

Vintage KING ADDIES footage in Brooklyn NY:

So not only was Cat making money abroad (away from JAMAICA) he was SAVING HIS LIFE from the bullshyt back home.....

But regardless how much FAME and MONEY he earned in the states....Supercat aka "the Wild Apache" was always tied into the streets of jamaica and never lost sight of that...as evident in that clip i posted, where he dedicates a song to his "gangsta friend" Sandoken who made the Jamaican News for "attacking a Police Station" as the lone gunmen he killed 3 policemen and made out with a stash of guns and ammunition. :whoo:

Which also explains why he never made it larger in the american market like Shabba, Shaggy and Sean Paul....his music was just waaaayy too GUTTER and REAL for the radio...

"then we take a couple of stores, couple of banks and shops ahh, then police dem a talk bout we HOT yah!!" - "GHETTO RED HOT"

Wickedest ting is it was ninjaman standing up for shabba recently when beenie man was trying to imply shabba paid to have people waiting for him to land in jamaica.
