I have a potnah like this. He has a NYC accent. It's not noticeable like most from NYC. He spent a bunch of time in Colorado growing up also.

Dude was born here then raised in until elementary.

I seen him in several interviews speaking without the accent. I just assumed he was ... bi lingual if that makes sense? And just used the accent when speaking with native speakers or making music.
