For those who don't want to read the articles, Shane Black says that originally the script called for a female villain but Disney said female villain toys wouldn't be marketable so Shane Black had to go and re-write the entire script. He said because of the backlash to how Mandarin was treated, Marvel made the one-shot 'All Hail the King' as an apology to their fans and in that it reveals of course that there is a 'real' Mandarin out there.

I also heard that Iron Man 2 was supposed to deal with Tony becoming an alcoholic, but they never approved it. Also Ant Man was supposed to be different but the studio decided to change it

The one shot was just marvel tucking their tail and putting out some bullshyt that will never ever be expanded on.

I wish these studios and production companies would get over their petty ass fears when it comes to stuff like this

any time people worry about a female villain potentially bombing a movie, I point to Dredd

low budget as fukk too
