Science has conflicting views on cancer being hereditary, some say it's our environment and foods

It's both. Some types of cancer run in families, but some environmental stressors (smoking, radiation exposure, UV rays, etc.) significantly increase your chances of getting certain types of cancer.

Also part of it is just sheer bad luck. At the end of the day cancer is caused by mutated cells and sometimes that can just happen randomly even if you do everything right
