:why:

Penny was 1st-team All-NBA and a playoff monster by his 2nd and 3rd years, then got his first injury during the playoffs his 3rd year. Which "hump" was he failing to get over?

I don’t think It was enough, his rise was just as big as his fall off.

Frobe was better than any version of Penny we got to see…explosive 30ppg scorer and 1st team all defense level player while being being the primary playmaker (though in the triangle)… didn’t get to see how’d he look in his prime, so who knows where Penny progressed from there

:patrice: Unless you’re quoting someone I’ve got blocked. What does TMac have to do with Penny.
I made a mistake and misread the thread.

No. Penny Hardaway was not in Kobe’s league athletically or in skill.

:usure: This is the same Penny that Shaq comparing Fredo Corleone when breaking down the difference between the 3 guys he played with (Penny, Kobe, Wade)

The difference between those three is the Godfather trilogy,” O’Neal said in classic Shaq-speak. “One is Fredo, who was never ready for me to hand it over to him. One is Sonny, who will do whatever it takes to be the man, and one is Michael, who if you watch the trilogy, the Godfather hands it over to Michael. So I have no problem handing it over to Dwyane.

:francis: yet I'm supposed to believe he thinks Penny was every bit as good Kobe :duck:

Years later P, Shaq admitted he was jealous of Penny while on the Magic. So I think you might have to factor that into that statement

Penny was super skilled. I just don’t know he would have ever been as dominant as Kobe. Kobe was looking to get it every night. The game came so easy for Penny u got the impression that he glided through games.
