What version of Shaq was talking? First decade Shaq would fine in the right system. If Jarrett Allen and Looney are serviceable enough in todays NBA and theyve had years not hitting a single 3. Then Shaq with his passing ability will be fine.

Point being that a heavily edited 30-sec clip of Shaq performin a weak ass crossover and some bad lookin jumpshots with lifetime fitness ball pressure... is like rondo makin ten 3s in an edited practice clip and ppl thinkin he'd average 40 on 50/40/90 in this era
Shaq would be Shaq in any era bc he'd be unstoppable in the post... not attemptin that bullshyt on the perimeter.

Kobe wanted to be the man on his own team and prove that he was the guy, to validate his own hard work. He wasn’t gonna accept being the #2 player, even if Shaq never “got lazy”.
And Shaq was the man on those teams at the time, could clearly see Kobe was eventually going to become that, and was never gonna accept being #2 behind somebody else when he was previously the #1 (plus the finances obviously).
Kobe and Shaq were never supposed to be a duo that stayed together 15+ years. The egos were always going to clash. Everything they said after was just lip service for their fan bases.
He stopped shooting the jumper because he got too big, and it was too easy for him to go through whoever in the post. He'd take jumpers in the warmup lines, and up to like his second year in LA, he had a version of Ewing's turnaround. It ended up morphing more into the jumphook though. Same for his handles. He stopped handling the ball so much as soon as he got to LA, but young Shaq had a good big man handle.

Not only would Shaq probably play different now and probably be dribbling and shyt, the game would adapt around him. Like it does for all generational players.
