The main problem with Bell Hooke is that shes a woman. A woman challenging men will always come off poorly and make many of us defensive. She said some good things,and some bad things. The biological rationale is the ages of 14-16 generally are when a girl/young lady learns that she can use her femininity to manipulate males into giving them what they want.
At that point, most (most) girls tend to focus on developing that side of their personality than other (perhaps more cognitive) pursuits.

Every black person living in America has been whitewashed, that's beside the point of this conversation.

It's a black woman pointing out the current situation of black women in America. She has been doing so for decades.

but, I'll say this. As someone who read her books back in highschool. (Even talked about it privately with one of my female teachers) Ali is highly critical of black women. In her books she was damn near condoning domestic violence if your (black woman) got out of line. I can't rock with no shyt like that.
