You think you saying something.. But this is BUSINESS, not friends and likes.. Bottom line is numbers. And if they can get people to do your job, cheaper, they will. After working from home for 3 years, nikkas wanted to bytch on some "They can't fire all of us, we should demand....." and he does actually like me or he'd have said "y'all nikkas fired" instead of "let me holla at you for a second"

Do you know aerospace engineering? I don't. What I know is IT. And he can find someone with my skills before the ink is dry on my paperwork. And yes, I could probably find another IT job where I start all over, get to work from home, pray they pay me the same money, and pray they as stable/fun/free as this job...

Point of the story was, it wasn't beneficial to the company to let me work from home and keep all the benefits. Why would anyone think any other company is going to do differently? History has shown, they aren't.. They will ship those jobs overseas like John from T-Mobile with the Indian accent
I mean, people do job hop to upgrade their situation all the time. The same thing they're using against you, you can use against them.

That's the game: they're looking to replace you while you're looking to replace someone someplace else.

As long as the Leetcode skills are sharp for example someone with a CS degree and experience is going to have pick of the litter.

She is a crybaby little cac, it's called real life. Most of the planet works this way. Very soft generation...they want everything handed to them...

When the boomers retire and Gen X starts to collect social security checks within the next decade, they are going to be the norm. Your old rigid rules will be outdated and go of the way of the two-way pager

I had a co-worker that did this about 10 years ago. He worked in Maryland (we both did, Columbia Maryland to be exact) but he lived in southern Pennsylvania.

A McMansion in Maryland wasn't affordable on his salary so he bit the bullet and moved to southern Pennsylvania. 2 hours one way with traffic

ANd people said that I was crazy.

These commutes ruin the quality of life for many people.

I mean this is the realest breakdown I’ve seen on WFH. It’s 100% true. These jobs could be WORLDWIDE. I’ve lived in multiple places and one salary will go different ways in different cities. You probably can’t do shyt with 50K in a place like Atlanta or D.C. but imagine they find someone and pay them 50k or less in a really small town? My only thing about WFH.. they see you going to places to shop, concerts, sporting events, etc. I’m sure that factors in them saying get yo ass up and come to work lol. I don’t have any problems with WFH just to be clear :hubie: I mean my best friends wife has been WFH gang for years even before the pandemic. She lives in Atlanta and her job is based somewhere in Kentucky. All that to say I agree with your post lol

This "logic" is why no one respects many employers. If money is the only thing to keep people in line, then a revolution covered in blood is indeed coming.

Damn. I didn't even read through the whole thread but a LOT of people have 3+ hour round trip commutes and it was Even more common before COVID hit and made work from home or thing.

I know for a fact it's super common in Seattle and San Francisco.

Hey, sorry if that came off obnoxious, and maybe he is trying to look out for the team and keep the boat steady out of dangerous waters. But as u said, its business. At the end of the day, if they can find someone to work cheaper, they can and will replace yall at the first opportunity. Its a cold world. The thing is, yall demands, or lack there of, is not gone make a difference in that one way or the other.

Outsourcing has and will continue to be a thing. But the fact that they are currently paying u ur salary at its current level demonstrates yall do indeed have some degree of leverage here. Even if ya supervisor is cool and just trying to look out, best believe the execs got them bean counters crunching the numbers hard finna maximize those almighty profits by any means necessary. Bean counter bruh whole bag centering around and contingent on those profits. The greater those profits, the greater that bag.

That being said, its ur business and none of mine, and im not qualified to give anyone job advice regardless. But i still feel compelled to affirm to u that ur value as an employee is not what they are paying u, but what u are bringing in for them.

Maybe they could find someone to work for a fraction of ur salary in some other state or country. That does not make them a greater asset in and of itself, and whether they admit it or not, they perfectly well know it.

And if u can be just as profitable to them...hell, maybe even MORE profitable to them from home, they would not stay in business long being the ones to rock THAT boat breh. And if that dont apply, its not gone make a difference in the long run where u sit at ur computer from. The bottom line is the bottom line. Know ur value brother. :salute: If u are paying them more than they are paying u, dont be shy about getting ur money's worth. Closed mouths dont get fed breh.

You need to work to live, we all can't just travel the world, stunt on IG, sleep to 12, vape all day, and have 5 bands pop up in a direct deposit...

Too many people want to be a celebrity but need a 9 to 5 to survive, hence the outrage from gen z and some Millenials

It has nothing to do with being a celebrity or wanting to be a celebrity.

Why not? Productivity has vastly increased with WFH and the handful of companies that continue to do so, always have happy employees.

Its the future. You a dinosaur that hates when people have a happier and better quality life than you. That is some crabs in a barrel type shyt you on.

Most of Gen Z aren't into all the shyt that old people respect/get hyped on/are amused by: war, wife jokes, work ethic/labor, etc.

You got to think, you're dealing with a generation who grew up terrified of school shootings and an era of working from home.

You know it's crazy when you get that guy who posted agreeing with you.

Really think everyone was working around the corner, with a house and a family and a yard and an easy evening, while the wife stayed at home and cooked and prepared dinner.. Motherfukkers BEEN struggling. They ain't trying to hear your crybaby tears. Motherfukkers was working at THE PLANT coming home half dead and still didn't own the place.. They ain't trying to hear about your bar time and tinder dates.
