Damn. I didn't even read through the whole thread but a LOT of people have 3+ hour round trip commutes and it was Even more common before COVID hit and made work from home or thing.

I know for a fact it's super common in Seattle and San Francisco.
i'm from the bay

when I worked in oakland, the office manager would do a 3+ hour commute 1 way into the office 4 days a week. I forget what town she lived in, but she lived in the central ass valley.

I could not do that kinda commute daily. I have no idea if she went home every night, but she was in the office by 9.

Link my stats? They keep gov records of this shyt idiot... everybody knows ownership has gone up over time.. This is the problem. These dumb idiots have all this knowledge at their fingertips and don't know shyt. Really think everyone was working around the corner, with a house and a family and a yard and an easy evening, while the wife stayed at home and cooked and prepared dinner.. Motherfukkers BEEN struggling. They ain't trying to hear your crybaby tears. Motherfukkers was working at THE PLANT coming home half dead and still didn't own the place.. They ain't trying to hear about your bar time and tinder dates.

Glad you finally went and did research, took you 24hrs

I could also probably tell you why black home ownership boomed from 1940 and on.. but I’ll assume you’re intelligent enough for me to not explain

And 22-40% compared to your bosses 40-74% :picard:

Like I said... Everything y'all crying about, your elders already experienced and lived through... You preaching to the choir.. How about you educate yourself and make some real changes instead of crying on tik tok

What's really interesting is up till the last 70 years or so, people just survived, you worked from the time you work up to the time you went to bed, which is why fairs and festivals were so important becaue it was one of the few times people got to break up the monotony of working to survive. Now people think that the default state of humanity is having 100% leasure time to persure whatever interests have. That's definitly not the case thorugh 99% of human history. We are lucky that we only have to work 8 hours to make a living. There is definitly a siesmic shift in the population right now. Computers have vastly increased individual productivity, automation is going to make so much labor not needed. For some people there is going to be about 100 years of bad times if you don't make yourself or your family valuable to society. Birthrates are going to continue to drop as western society doesn't need all the people, it just needs cheap labor until automation gets better.

Most work is literally just renting yourself out with commute time ontop. Most ppl/generations realize it sooner or later but I think this is the first gen where the reward doesnt seem worth it or impossible (retired with social security and savings). I said it another thread before but I think this is the first gen in awhile where when they collectively look to the future, it all looks bleak and chaotic. So when you dealing with that then you commuing hrs to a 9-5 ofc you gonna be like wtf is the point.
This. The shyt has been bubbling for a while

With previous generations it was easier to put your head down and work through it because the pay off was usually worth it, but now you have nikkas working overtime or two jobs just to break even every month

Covid/lockdown exacerbated the feelings because everyone had time to reflect and think about their lives. A lot of things have fallen off lost pandemic because people are more jaded now and see most of our indulgences as meaningless
