I'm just shook because after reading that other child support thread. This isn't the chick I saw myself being with...I could have still be living with my parents, with no car note and stacking bread

u should consider what is best for the child vs what is best for u.
if the kid is used to her being the main caregiver, then i think u should just take the L and pay up cuz its what is easiest on your kid and if anyone should suffer between a parent & a kid it should be the parent. it will also be hard on your son being away from his sibling from her previous relationship.
however, if you're the main caregiver or you guys contribute equally try to make a deal with her where she gives u primary custody with weekend visits at least until she gets back on her feet & has her other kids in one home. just promise not to charge her child support (your op says u don't want it) as an incentive for her to give in. stress her needing to get her other kids to help convince her this is the best decision.
