Erica Morel, 35, fell from the third-floor fire escape in The Bronx, New York on Sunday during the incident that saw her try to break into the apartment of a Dwayne Murray, 29, whose girlfriend she had been feuding with over money and drugs, police said.



Morel went to Murray’s apartment and tried to confront his girlfriend, but she would not let her in, police told The New York Post.

‘That’s when Morel climbs the fire escape with a knife,’ police said.

‘She’s banging on the window, causing it to break. Dwayne came to the window, she backed away, lost her footing and fell.’



After Morel fell, she hit the fire escape one floor below before plunging to the sidewalk.

Morel was taken to the hospital after the incident and was reported to be in critical but stable condition.

The horrific 15-second video was posted to Facebook and features a bystander asking ‘what the fukk’ as Morel tries to break into the apartment.

Murray was treated at the scene for injuries resulting from the broken window – and was later charged with murder for an incident believed to be related to the encounter with Morel.



Police said people began ‘threatening (Murray) and accusing him of pushing Erica out the window.’

One of those people believed to have been harassing Murray was Curtis Nicholas, 37, who was reported to be a member of the Gorilla Stone Gang, a New York gang affiliated with the Bloods.

Nicholas was found stabbed to death seven hours after Morel fell from the fire escape and Murray has since been charged with his death, according to the New York Police Department.





Surveillance video whows Nicholas arguing with Murray in front of his apartment. Cameras later capture Murray as he ‘enters the building and returns with the knife, chases the victim and assaults him.’

‘The cops who had been their earlier for the woman out the window had come back, and when they saw the video, they knew it was Dwayne Murray,’ police said.

Murray was arrested shortly after Nicholas’s death and has been charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon.
