Young people call women older than them "aunty" in africa and the caribbean even if they aren't related...:yeshrug:...it's a sign of respect for an elder.

correct I think some got it from Black panther and now that the trend is wearing down they are getting annoyed and starting to feel offended

Hoes ain't NEVER happy :snoop:

Reminds me of the time when I was walking home from junior high school back in the day

And this lady walks towards me asking if the store around the barbershop around the corner is open today

I responded respectfully..

"yes ma'am"....it is open today"

She responds in a hostile manner

"DONT CALL ME MA'AM..I AINT EVEN TURNED 30 YET"
:usure:

I was confused but enlightened at the same Time....

Because I realized right then...

It ages you. Usually an older woman is called auntie. I personally don’t call women older than me (like in their 50s) by their first name. It’s always Mrs. Thats just how I was raised. I can understand why she doesn’t like it. She’s not that old:yeshrug:

And really, I don’t think it’s complaining. People should call you what YOU want. Nothings wrong with that.

I think most in the thread agree with you. Call someone by what they want to be called.

Most people’s issue is stems from the other commenters latching on to this making it a thing. All they need to do is tell their inner circle and KIM.
