Got a homie at Cuse right now who complains about this shyt all the time to me. I Western Union breh all of the time too. Its fukked up that they dont get paid. People don't understand how much work those guys put in. Balancing doing well academically, and performing on the field so you can keep your scholarship sounds hard. Donn't think I could do it. College is difficult enough already. Without having to balance sports in.

Sherman and Bennett are keeping it all the way real with this shyt. When I was playin college ball I would have regular students make little snide comments like, "you have it easy, you're going to school for free" "you get handouts while we have to get it the hard way"

I told them that I had to work twice as hard as they did with most of my time occupied because of athletic obligation while staying eligible.

Between 6am workouts, class, practice, film then study hall, nikkaz would be dead ass tired only to do the same shyt the next day. Please believe we EARNED every last dollar of that scholarship.

The amount of money that football and basketball generated the school was crazy. The TV deals, boosters and sponsor money that came from athletics funded all of the new buildings on campus (new science hall, auditoriums etc)

As a "regular student" I actually remember getting my school paid for AND a stipend as a part of my research assistantship.

I'm not on favor of necessarily giving them ~50% of the pot like the pros get, but I can't see any reason why they shouldn't get stipends.

True. I don't think that schools should just start ridiculously cashin out every student athlete. But some form of reasonable stipend should be given to them. I received a stipend too, but it was barely enough to cover monthly off campus living expenses.

Around the end of the month, I would often be scrapin pennies. Luckily I had other hustles to supplemantal income to make it thru.

As a cat who grew up on 80s Thru 00's corporate athletes, these guys talking is a refreshing return to the pre 80s athletes I had as a child and my parents had.

I for one celebrating these young cats.

Got a friend that went to a HBCU played Oline... Said him and starting QB was robbing houses around the town and strong arm robbing nikkas at night for bread...

Another "mentor" of sorts to me went to a prominent football school, played with NFL nikkas and was a prospect himself told me cats was getting checks on Sunday's...money handshakes and giving cash to relatives to give to players was part of the norm...

As far as what they said I'd rather hear them talk about the new measures the NCAA has taken to address those issues such as unlimited meals and snacks, cost of attendance, etc.

some scrub ass offensive lineman isnt responsible at all for multi million dollar tv deals. i played baseball for 4 years. what made me any different than some shyt lineman, or some scrub at the end of the basketball bench that has zero factor into the schools revenue ? the schools dont owe anyone shyt else beyond room, board and a chance to get a degree on the house. athletes making money from third parties/endorsements i have zero problem with. lets hear your solution since you seem to have it all figured out. who gets paid? what do they get paid? we paying shyt ass reserves that dont see the field? everyone gets paid the same? its easy to spout off bullshyt like you are, like bennett is etc. lets hear an actual plan. some schools basketball aint bringing in jack shyt. fukk those basketball players but pay others? lets hear you explain how it works since its so easy. talking about how hard it was for you to balance work and sports in college is some woe is me shyt. theres half a million others doing that same fukking thing, every year

another reason why the whole student-athlete status/thing is just dumb. separate the two. if you want athletes to be like students, there needs to be a new system. student athletes are being made money off by the college, they never have enough time to get a real education (and not a piece of paper),and they take up resources that can be used by the non-athlete students.
