Wait, a rookie simultaneously has a top-10 OPS and a top-10 ERA and someone is calling him overrated? 
If Ohtani had enough games to qualify he'd be 20th in OBP, 8th in slugging, and 8th in OPS. Give him as many at-bats as the other leaders and he'd be top-10 in home runs too.
That's already great for a guy in his first MLB season. Then add in that from the mound he'd be 12th in WHIP, 8th in ERA, 6th in K/9.
And all while battling injuries. That's ridiculous. Just being average in both hitting and pitching would be epic, and he was great.

average? what in the fukk? if he somehow played the whole season and you extrapolated his numbers over a full season he would be the damn MVP and you're calling him average.

The problem is that the Japanese be wearing the shyt out of their pitchers, so by the time they get here they fall apart.
I don't buy that.
American pitchers are limited and still getting surgeries left and right.
It is one thing to pull a pitcher on the 6th because you think 3 times through the order the batters will get to him.
But removing a guy in the 6th because he has 97 pitches and you want to save him...that's trash. That precaution has saved exactly 0 pitchers.
There have been 20 pitchers who have gotten TJ surgery in 2018. None of them were workhorses by any stretch of the imagination.
Pitching is just inherently predisposed to injury.
