I'm usually refined enough to catch the meanings of metaphors and quips...
But that rock quote from the gardner flew over my head. Can someone elaborate it's meaning for me
“Without a good rock, a garden is just a place for growing.” - Uejirou

Japanese Zen gardens are a place for meditation and deep contemplation. The rocks are there to symbolize nature (and being connected to nature) and also to represent calmness and tranquility.

What episode did the gardener give the quote? Was it this episode or the last one?
