To me rollerskating, riding bikes, and swimming are 3 things all kids do.

As we grew older we just progressed into doing the real shyt. In fact from 11-13 our entire summer consisted of waking up, riding our bikes to the pool, swimming, after swimming playing baseball,football,basketball, something...then from like 7-10pm go skating at the rink on a Thursday, Fri, Saturday night.

They're gay if your 9 or some shyt. When you were 3-5 it's just what you had to learn with. I guess it taught the fundamentals like balance and scooting your feet because they didn't roll for shyt especially on sidewalks or driveways.
I remember we had so many of these in the neighborhood growing up people had their last names on them cause 4-5 kids get together and who knew what was what.

I always tell people I can swim well enough to save myself or swim to the shore. Maybe a small baby but no grown adult.
Still the ocean almost captured me alive when I was floating on my back. I was cooling enjoying my time back home on St.Croix. I had to be about a 100 yards away from the shores when I realized and damn near had a panic attack. It took everything to maintain focus.

I don't understand how someone doesn't know how to swim. But then again I don't understand how people don't know how to ride a bike or rollerskate. I can do all 3.
but riding a bike and rollerskating are not really "survival" skills... knowing how to swim can save your life.
