should black people that marry white people be able to preach about pro black matters?

and he's not the only one who feels that way. Most people in the community are going to question how much you really give a fukk about the black race if you couldn't even marry one. One can debate the logic of that all day but the point remains that's how many feel. To deny that is dishonest.

Like an earlier poster said: they would listen with a grain of salt what they had to say, then roll their eyes.
Lol I ain't doing all that...I just won't consider them pro black, just an individual asserting his opinion about black issues. I feel the same way about people of different races calling themselves African. You may have the nationality of said country but you are not of african descent but are either euro or indian. Pissed a lot of my friends off that were indian africans and white africans...didn't care.
I would not go to india or europe and expect them to think we're kin. I think black people are too quick to accept people into our fold just cause they smile at us right. There are even some black people that I disown...

@Ronnie Lott @thereheis How do you define a cultural/racial community? And how does your definition weigh in reference to other rsvial/cultural communities? Just curious. I think this conversation is important to be had because generally speaking I think black men and black women define it differently.

Pretty much based on values, language, tradition, customs and yes... genetic origin...all of which can be vary within AAs ...for other groups it's pretty much the same.

you cant be pro black if you don't want to put more black people on this earth, and live with a black woman.

If they come from black seeds, they're black. We can agree to disagree.

And I'm not a militant or particularly pro black. But run up on a sista with that pro black talk about economics and community building with a white wife in tow and see how far that gets you :dead:

I've had this debate many times, so I know my view on this throws a lot of people off, especially the people that know me personally, and know I couldn't see myself being in a monogamous relationship with a white woman.

I just think we're better than that kind of monolithic thinking. :manny:

But how far are you goibg to clain them their blackness...then one can argue that everyone is black but how does that play in the reality of the lives that we live in every day.

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you're asking me, can you rephrase your question.

And that's the attention I am trying to bring to...many black men claim to be militant but actually are not...unless you have your own definition of what comprises militancy/pro blackness.
I believe these men are militant in word only and not in action.
Arab terrorists/suicide bombers are militant but many back to africa folks/white people are the devil people are not. When you start framing pro blackness the way I did it starts to exclude a lot of people. Some of them may be good people living their lives no doubt but it also excludes these pseudo/faux militant/hotep folks.

Sorry I said that if a black person comes from one black parent how far can you claim their blackness?

That depends on how they view themselves. Huey P Newton and Malcolm X we're both of mixed heritage, but saw themselves as black, so I view them as black men. Would you have told either one of them that they weren't truly black men?

I am not one to enforce an identity on people to suit me. African americans can be argued to mostly be a mixed raced people with predominantly african dna. But someone that's half black and half white is biracial. Period.
In the context of the times I can understand...in the context of today I foresee this changing in the US.
Wasn't malcolm x's mother mixed raced and his father black?

So they're still Black, and just happen to also be white, they'll be treated as a Black person their whole life. So they understand the struggles we face, and on top of it, have to work through any problems that come with being mixed.

You can understand someones struggle but it doesn't change who you are inherently. Biracial people in the us are part of black history but they are still biracial people.

They don't just understand our struggles, they have to bare them just like us, because they are us, they are Black too. The fact that people are out there who view them as less than black, shows that they might have even more issues to deal with than Black people with two Black parents.

Me not viewing them as black is not implying that they are less but are the sum of two races...denying that is delusional. Is that why so many black men who wife white women still condider themselves black nationalists/militant because they can gace 'black kids' through a white woman?
I think thst hurst the black family more than help it if the definition is that loose.

I can't speak for them, but if I somehow ended up with a white woman I'd consider myself pro Black, not because of my ability to still bare black children, but because of the work I was doing for the Black community.

Ok...I respect that. We just define it differently I guess. Thx for the conversation
