I'm ignorant on why this is a thing. Is this only in America? Is there legitimate reasoning for it? Tell it to me like I'm remedial
Churches are considered non-profit religious organizations. The question on if that is really the case is considered debatable to me.I'm ignorant on why this is a thing. Is this only in America? Is there legitimate reasoning for it? Tell it to me like I'm remedial
but church is an OFFERING. You're not being strong armed into paying. I never thought about it til thus thread but the idea of pressing to tax churches is actually annoying. Press to have your tax dollars allocated appropriately.I always thought that verse was in support of everyone paying their taxes, not avoiding. Maybe I misinterpreted. I feel like churches should at least be more transparent with where exactly the tithes and offering are going."Render to Ceasar what is Ceasar's and to God what is God's"
Separation of church and state. Your every day business or purchase falls under the state. But church is for God, so that money is owed to God.
I don't go to church but if we're being real that's a negligible slice of money in comparison. The government has your ass 360°, even moreso if you're paying state taxesbut church is an OFFERING. Nope.
Tax exemption arises from the theory that churches and non-profit organizations do some kind of good for the public. Tax exempt organizations engage in a lot of shady stuff that does not seem to terminate their exempt status so I have always felt their exemption should apply on a transaction by transaction basis rather than on a blanket basis.
I agreeThey should not, since they all seem like they got something to say about sociopolitical issues.
I had to look it up and started to quote the verse, but I didn't wanna front like I really knowI always thought that verse was in support of everyone paying their taxes, not avoiding.
