Yes, they should be tax exempt.
If you take away tax exemption from the church, you must do so for all non profit organizations.

i'm fine with this to some extent. no one should be getting rich off running a non profit either.

again you gotta show where the funds are going.

there should be no mega churches.

no one should be getting rich off religion. should be no joel osteens or creflos.

i do think religious orgs/churches do use a lot of their funds for good, or just to sustain their business, and we should tax none of that.

No.

The Church-house could help fix all the issues in the community overnight. At one point, it was a neutral ground for all issues in the community.

Everytime I hear this argument, I wonder if people are serious. There are consequences.... Mega churches would keep on rolling while small churches who are all about serving would get shut down. I don't even think there would be any churches to go to where I grew up if there were taxes on churches.

The backlash from evangelicals would be nasty. And I'm not talking about a short term inconvenience either.

There's a reason this isn't going to happen and y'all need to stop bringing this up. This isn't lgbt cac reddit... From slavery through Jim Crow through the Civil Right marches even today, in our communities church is what we've had to come together and to organize. It's where people like MLK and Malcolm found their voice and developed their leadership skills and spread their message.

I just don't get it. If you are talking taxing preacher's salaries over a certain amount d personal assets like jet planes, I might can see it. But that's not what people are saying. The intent of the conversation is always tax all churches which is going to be received as an attack on God's churches. Why even go there?

How do you stop mega churches? People are going to go where they want to go.

Yes, but only if they give back significantly to the Black community via building accredited Christian schools, building and maintaining elderly homes, and feed the poor every week. That has to be part of the business plan. These churches need to be held financially and socially responsible since they are the hub of the community where people from all walks of life come together.
