I think it starts really early. White kids have high expectations for themselves and they understand something has to be done to get to where they want to be. A lot of black kids operate outside that mindset. Priorities on having sex or getting high and obtaining money quickly and easily.

I'm not sure what's going to fix it, at this point an authentic black is poor one so there's pride reinforcing the struggle instead of shame which leaves many content to stay where there are because that's how it's supposed to be.

I honestly think the wealthy and educated blacks do TOO much for the community. Far too many people over the past generations have died, marched, donated, volunteered, and spoke until they were horse in the mouth for some of these people to be in the position that they are in today.

There is simply no excuse for it. Those at the bottom simply aren't pulling their weight and it shows in the results. It's cold but it is the truth in my eyes.

IMO it's time for the blacks who are about getting things done to draw a clear line in the sand and seperate themselves from the rest.

That's entirely untrue. Just the other day I had to insult another poster who was disrespecting so called uppity black people. Mind you that these same uppity black people helped him obtain a job. There's an arrogance level amongst the have nots that is very perplexing. To quote Anton Chigurh from No Country For Old Men

"If the rule you followed brought you to this, what use was the rule?"

Chigurh said that to a man he was about to kill. I ask you all if the philosophy of life brought you to your current station, what was the point? Are you satisfied with the results? You should probably try an entirely different way or at least mimic the behavior of successful people.

Here you have a group of people talking down on others who provide employment, economic advancement and pride to a people. Are you capable of doing better? These are sobering questions. All I have seen is a group of people continuously talk about the lack of opportunities when there is a lack of the opportunistic. We all can do better but for those who are struggling they need to do better more than ever.

Pretty much describes how I feel. Not even just limited to "have nots", but most first generation college graduates/middle class people as well.

I don't get what more people from upper middle-class/upper class stratas can do, which is why I like to stay away from these topics. People always want more.

:lawd:

But they don't see this breh.

Black Americans priorities for the most part (not all) are conducive to keep the status quo.

Hmm......

If more blacks became educated and empowered, would there be more opportunities or just more of us fighting for the same opportunities?

Reality is real....

Well the goal post will change. Here you have asians in this country who aren't as represented in upper management or politics yet are thriving. Now would our collective goals change to remove ourselves from the publicized positions and focus on the grassroots. The few blacks at the very top of economics, the chenaults, the magic johnsons would be more willing investors.

Also I believe the thriving black communities would invoke investment opportunities overseas. Why aren't there viable black capital groups investing in emerging East African markets? I'd believe worldwide investments would be easier if there was the potential of returns. These investors are only coming to black areas in America coupled with gentrification. So I like the possibilities if that were to happen.

fukk them nikkas. nikkas just do stupid shyt for no reason. One of my neighbors upstairs be having her hood ass friends come over and they just leave cigarettes and orange peels all on the steps and shyt. You know how the apt complexes sometimes leave notes on your door, well the little nigglets think its cool to go to everyone's door and take them down. Mufukkas dont even live here, they just show up and have to find some ignorant shyt to do. So one day i heard them doing it before they got to my door so as soon as they were about to snatch mine i opened the door. Scared the shyt out of one of them and he fell all the way down the steps and started wailing like a bytch.

As soon as my girls lease is up we moving as far east as we can to get away from all these nikkas since the ones that can afford to stay over where i am currently just invite their hood ass family over to wreak havoc over here too.

they should, but i totally understand why the educated blacks don't. why look back at a community that probably shunned you while you were on the come up. now them ball players who come from the bottom, i don't know what their excuse is. although nobody ever calls them c00ns for turning their back on the community. blacks would rather focus on the dudes working a steady job in a nice community, and guilt them for not trying "help a brother out"

Some true shyt. What other community worships the ignorant person and shyt on the person that is doing positive things? The most hated person in America is the black person that is on his education grind.

This very site is guilty of this. People think I'm white because of how I type. It's like the existence of an educated black person is beyond their comprehension. I will probably get negged for this but I think hip hop music is a powerful vehicle for promoting ignorance. Many of the ignorant behavior we see on sites like worldstarhiphop are programmed into our children's minds via hip hop.
