People saying this is just for the summer don't understand summer associate "Big Law" positions, especially if it's a 2L summer gig. They are hired as summer associates with the expectation of being hired full time after graduation. If it's a 1L summer gig, I say go for it. If it's a 2L gig, I'd really think about whether I'd want to live there for the next several years. If you're single with no kids, that makes it easier. If you're married and/or have kids, that factors in a lot as well in deciding on whether you want to uproot your family to West fukking Virginia.
Also, as little competition as you think there is, I'm quite sure more people are gunning for any Big Law summer associate position they can find at this stage of the year than you can imagine.
