Should I do this car deal?

Ive been talking to my friend and he said he can sell me his 2004 chevy impala

he said he is going to get a civic from his manager but he will sell me his impala for 3 grand, should I do it because I have chilled with him before and the car drives pretty good, what do you guys think?

UPDATE: He told me it passed inspection yesterday

Have a mechanic check it out. Those whips were known to have radiator problems

Not sure I'd ever buy an american car with 100k+ miles. At that point, they start to nickel and dime you to death with small problems.

If you can do a lot of work yourself, you might be fine. I can't.

Man please. W-Bodies are bulletproof. There's plenty out there running with 250K+.

I hold any car used for taxi use, cop cars, etc as cars that can take serious abuse and stay reliable.
