should I go desktop over laptop

My macbook hard drive died (after 4 years ) so I'm thinking of going desktop cause it might last me longer.
Looking at an IMac. I don't even use my laptop outside of the crib so desktop would be the best choice right?
Any recommendations to the best desktops are accepted.

Buy a desktop, its the better choice all around. Less overheating issues (if you get it liquid cooled) and future proofing won't be a problem. Cyberpower has some great premades or will build it for you and ship it out. Or you can bare bones it with NewEgg.

If you plan on playing games, go with a PC, if you just want to edit or type, go with a Mac.

That's what I was gonna originally do but dude was talking about it could be the motherboard or some other ish.
I had the 3 beeps of death with the ram then it wouldn't come on at all.

i cant imagine owning a desktop at this point in my life... 80% of the time im using my laptop its while im doing something else... sitting in a computer chair anytime im using the internet would be crazy... but i get it for people who have their whole set up going on.

I like laptops but I feel like they die too damn quick plus I don't even carry it outside the house really
